Nintendo's big sophmore effort was spectacular. Thanks to heavy compitition from Sega we had some really good games pushed out on the SNES. If you'd like more than just the Top 10 I've compiled a list of 20 Other Great SNES Games.
10 Super Mario Kart (Racing, 1992) - Combat racing gets a flagship title and with the Battle Mode it really shines.
9. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (RPG, 1996) - Mario slows down and starts taking turns dealing out damage against his foes and teams up with some characters that you've never heard of before or since.
8. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (RPG, 1992) - Link starts with extra-dimensional time traveling and continues its excellent tradition of entertaining me.
7. Donkey Kong Country (Platform, 1994) - Donkey Kong reappears from obscurity to battle a crocodile pirate displaying graphics years ahead of its time and music thats instantly recognizable.
6. Chrono Trigger (RPG, 1995) - The last of the "Golden Era" RPGs, Chrono Trigger wins for being so varied in its settings and characters. And as per usual for Squaresoft it delievers music above what the SNES should have.
5. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (Platform, 1995) - While not a true sequel this is platforming on the SNES looking its best. If only baby Mario would shut up for once this game would have been perfect.
4. Secret of Mana (RPG, 1993) - Action RPG that bests Link at his own game thanks to a better combat system and a co-op mode. Yeah, co-op RPG. Oh and the theme song is prime.
3. Final Fantasy VI (RPG, 1994) - The first RPG many American's ever played. After renting you realized you just couldn't beat it before you had to take it back. Not to mention what could make a strong case for best soundtrack in history.
2. Super Metroid (Platform, 1994) - So what it's pretty much a remake of the original? Prettied up graphics, revamped music and sound and even more game to play. What's not to love?
1. Super Mario World (Platform, 1991) - This game was huge. An enormous world to explore, secrets to uncover, and as usual an awesome soundtrack.
