Top 10 FPS Games of the 21st Century

First-Person Shooters have been with us for awhile now and they only appear to be getting better. Several of these appeared in the Top 10 PC Games of the 21st Century so to see their description and video head on over to that list. You can view the box art on this list. If you want to see the best FPS of yesteryear then check out the Top 10 FPS Games of the 20th Century.

10. F.E.A.R.
(2005) - This is what Doom 3 wanted to be. Freaky with a few frights. The real highlight is the slo-mo implemented during a fire fight. Intense.

9. Battlefield 1942 (2002) - This game is all about the multiplayer. A huge player limit and well executed point capture gameplay along with numerous vehicles made this game an online powerhouse.

8. Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 (2005) - Taking the tried-and-true WW2 formula to a new realistic height, BiA has you do play through a realistic romp through France.

7. Seriuos Sam: The Second Encounter (2002) - Completely mindless slaughterfest. Waves of enemies coming at you from all sides in giant arena-like levels make this game original. Throw in a perfectly awesome co-op mode and you get a classic.

6. Bioshock (2007) - An atmospheric FPS that actually contained a well thought out story. Unfortunatley the game was marred by copy-protection but if you get it to run, you'd have fun.

5. Deus Ex (2000) - A genre pushing game that had loads of RPG elements interspersed with intense action. There were multiple ways to play the game and multiple ways to unfold the complex story.

4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
(2007)

3. Far Cry
(2004)

2. Unreal Tournament 2004
(2004)

1. Half-Life 2 (plus Orange Box)
(2004)
