The Top 10 Genesis Games just not enough for you? Well here's twenty more of the greatest the console had to offer. These are mostly lesser known titles that you may have overlooked back in the day and most certainly did if you happened to be under the Nintendo spell. Oh and they're in no particular order.
Phantasy Star II (RPG, 1990) - The first in the series to appear on the Genesis, this game mastered the art of telling a mature story through a game besting even SquareSoft's Final Fantasy series up to that point.
Comix Zone (Beat 'em Up, 1995) - Coming out late in the life othe Genesis pretty much sealed this title to obscurity. One of the most original concepts for a beat em up game and certainly worth a play. Though don't expect it to be easy.
Strider (Platform, 1990) - A nearly perfect port of the Arcade game that puts the NES version to shame. A huge sword and even huger bosses. Released in 1990 this was one of the first games to really show what Nintendon't.
Rocket Knight Adventures (Platform, 1993) - Cute mammalian platformers were all the rage in the mid-90's. This one somehow got overlooked. Maybe because your a opposum. But man this gives Sonic a run for money or rings or whatever.
Gunstar Heroes (Run 'n Gun, 1993) - A great shoot-anything-that-moves game in the same vein as the Metal Slug series. If you like shooting things and hate to think then give this a try.
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master (Platform, 1993) - The best Shinobi game ever. This ninja was made for 2D platforming and this version really let him do his thing. Wall jumping, throwing stars, surfing ninjas, it's all there.
Shining Force (RPG, 1993) - The flagship RPG for the Genesis though I personally enjoyed the Phantasy Star series better, this game and its sequel were highly original in their play style and hold up well today.
Castlevania: Bloodlines (Platform, 1994) - More of the same candle-whipping action but this time with two characters to choose from each with their own playstyle. This game is hard. Yeah the NES Castlevanias were tough but this one makes them seem like Mario 2.
Toe Jam & Earl (Platform, 1991) - An odd combination of platforming, item collecting (similar to item collecting craze of the N64 days) and puzzle solving. All with an incredibly funky soundtrack made this game different enough to turn heads. Oh and the 2nd is different but equally as groovy.
Golden Axe (Beat 'em Up, 1989) - It seems like everyone's heard of this game but few have actually played it. Another great arcade port (what the Genesis was known for), the action is what you'd expect from a beat em up of the day but better with the addition of powerups being obtained from kicking magic midgets.
X-Men 2: Clone Wars (Beat 'em Up, 1995) - Way before the superhero explosion of the 2000s, X-Men 2 was rocking out the Genesis in this classic beat-em. PLUS you can play as Magneto after you beat him. Nothing wrong with that.
Kid Chameleon (Platform, 1992) - May be a Kirby knock-off but there's nothing wrong with that. This kid can turn into a Ninja, a Knight and all kinds of junk depending on the power up.
Landstalker (RPG, 1993) - An isometric action-adventure RPG. Lots of fun but an artificial difficulty due it being ridiculous trying to jump with that view point.
Flashback (Platform, 1992) - One of the first games to feature cinematic style gameplay and one of the greatest influences on modern games. Try it out if you want to see the real origin of Metal Gear Solid.
Altered Beast (Beat 'em Up, 1989) - So it's way to short and way to easy. It's also a lotta fun after you figure out what your supposed to be doing.
Streets of Rage 2 (Beat 'em Up, 1992) - Created to compete with the Final Fight franchise, Streets of Rage wins in almost every round. Better than the original due to improved graphics and controls, better than the 3rd due to the lack of stupid.
Ecco the Dolphin (Platform, 1992) - Completly original puzzle/platform gameplay that frustrates as much as it sooths. And, yes, there is a sequel that ain't bad either.
Earthworm Jim 2 (Platform, 1994) - If you liked the first one this is just more of the same. I'm sure not many people missed this one but whatever it needs to be on a list somewhere so here it is.
Ristar (Platform, 1995) - Probably the dumbest protagonist on the Genesis (and that's saying a lot). Luckily, Ristar had oodles of platforming goodness to keep it afloat.
Sonic & Knuckles (Platform, 1994) - Some consider this to be the pinnacle of Sonic, though I disagree, I can't say it's not a great game. It's just not quite up to the same level as Sonic 2 and 3 but you can pair it up with them to play as Knuckles.
