The GameCube may have been a commercial flop for Nintendo but that doesn't mean there weren't some great games to be had. If you've got your hands on this system (or a Wii) then don't be afraid of these modern classics.
10 Resident Evil (Survival Horror, 2002) - A remake of the original PSone game that improves in every area. If you like the series play this instead of the original. Much nicer.
9. Ikaruga (Shmup, 2003) - Originally put out on the ill-fated Dreamcast, Ikaruga was re-released for the GameCube to extend its life. Poor choice of systems aside, Ikaruga was one of the most original (and difficult) schmup in years.
8. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (RPG, 2006) - Released here and on the Wii and the same time, this version gets points for having Link use the sword in his proper hand (lefty). Not to mention the "graphical upgrade" found in the Wii version is impossible to notice without a side-by-side comparison.
7. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (FPS, 2004) - If you like the first Prime (and I'm sure you did) then this is more of the same. Meaning its more good.
6. Pikmin 2 (Action, 2004) - A nice original game that reminded me of the classic Lemmings. And for those who don't know, yes, that's a very good thing.
5. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (RPG, 2004) - The Mario RPG series continues on the GameCube with more of the same. Not a bad thing if you liked the first (or is it the second?).
4. Viewtiful Joe (Beat 'em Up, 2003) - A throwback to the old school. Viewtiful Joe is one of the most sylistic platformers in existence. If nothing more just watch it in action.
3. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (RPG, 2003) - Nicknamed Celda early on due to its controversial Cell Shading graphics. This interactive cartoon version of Zelda wasn't nearly as bad as some fanboys would have you believe.
2. Resident Evil 4 (Survival Horror, 2005) - One of the few games that appears on multiple systems' Top 10 lists, RE4 got its start here and gave GameCube owners a short-lived opportunity to brag.
1. Metroid Prime (FPS, 2002) - Prime showed that Samus could go FPS without losing that special touch. Sure it's a LOT differen than the previous entries in the series, but that doesn't mean it's not bad.
