Top 10 PlayStation Games

10 Tekken 3 (Fighting, 1998) - Introducing side-stepping and a whole slew of new characters and moves. Tekken 3 is consider by some to be the greatest fighting game ever. I wouldn't say that's much of a stretch.

9. Chrono Cross (RPG, 1999) - The long awaited sequel to Chrono Trigger delivers. While at the time fanboys were disappointed, in retrospect most agree that while it's different it's still great.

8. Final Fantasy VIII (RPG, 1999) - Opting for a more realistic art style, eschewing the equipment system, and turning magic into a consumable all made FF8 hard to love by those wanting another FF7. But despite all that it still is one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

7. Twisted Metal 2 (Action, 1996) - The original was a huge system seller for the PSone but the sequel upped the ante with more vehicles, more levels and more general mayhem.

6. Resident Evil 2 (Survival Horror, 1998) - No dogs jumping through windows here (at least not that I remember) but plenty of scares. This time you can play as multiple characters and you have a much larger area to slaughter those zombies in.

5. Final Fantasy Tactics (RPG, 1998) - Tactical RPGs are few and far between but Final Fantasy Tactics hits all the right buttons. Longer than a typical RPG, with more hidden characters, and with a storyline more convoluted that Lost, Tactics is something to behold.

4. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 (Sports, 2000) - While the original broke ground as the premiere extreme sports game, the second really solidified the series as a premiere sports title. Better graphics, better soundtrack, better control. Just better.

3. Gran Turismo 2 (Racing, 1999) - Where Gran Turismo redifined racing from an arcade experience to a simulation, GT2 added several hundred cars, numerous tracks and plenty of frustration.

2. Final Fantasy VII (RPG, 1997) - FF7 brought RPGs into the third deminsion and with a totally spectacular soundtrack. Taking a few "wow" moments from the Phantasy Star series doesn't detract from the quality of this title.

1. Metal Gear Solid (Action, 1998) - Hideo Kojima's cinematic masterpiece put a new spin on action games by adding stealth and an intelligent (if sometimes confusing) storyline.
